What you don’t need when you're having a baby

My first time around the block I registered for EVERYTHING. I mean how could I not? Everything seemed to make sense and have a purpose. How could I ever care for a newborn without a state-of-the-art wipes warmer?
I was blessed to have a wonderful baby shower. I got more toys and clothes and baby care items that would fit in 3 truck filled trips. I was overjoyed but overwhelmed. I got home and couldn’t wait to set up all my and baby Delilah’s new items.
After she was here and my world was turned upside down (in a good way) I found myself not using all the items I received.
I ended up returning a lot, and giving away some. Rather than listing all the items you do need here is a list of all the things you don’t need when having a baby. The first time, or the fourth.
*this is solely my opinion based on my experiences every mother and family is different with different needs but if you are overwhelmed or having trouble narrowing it down this list might just help.
One item I could not live without and used a lot with all my children was:
A good breast pump, my favorite was Medela. I paid for the first 2 but after that I realized insurance covers breast pumps at 100%! Check with your insurance company on how to get yours covered.
If you are serious about breastfeeding and planning or to have more than one child or going back to work you may want to get your free pump from insurance and then invest in a portable pump for on the go pumping. The portable one I love and use on the go is shown on the bottom it lasted 7 years and 4 babies. I highly recommend the Medela Swing which insurance doesn't usually cover.
It will help if you are going to work after the baby is born or if you need to leave the house for a little while and want to pump on the go.
